Globalization has three key bad effects on the environment. First, it increases carbon emissions a lot-many products are shipped long distances by plane or ship, like fruits from South America sold in European supermarkets, which burns plenty of fossil fuels. Second, it causes more resource overuse: developed countries import large amounts of raw materials such as timber from Southeast Asia and minerals from Africa, leading to deforestation and mine damage there. Third, it brings cross-border pollution: some factories move to developing countries with loose environmental rules, like certain electronic waste treatment plants in Asia that release toxic chemicals into rivers and air, harming local ecosystems and people's health.
